ABOUT US

Image

Sigma Alpha Epsilon was founded at the University of Alabama in 1856. Since then, we have initiated over 340,000 men into our organization, making us one of the largest men’s fraternities in the country. Our creed, The True Gentleman is our guiding motto that sets the expectation for our members’ daily lives. The mission of SAE is to promote the highest standards of friendship, scholarship, leadership and service for our members throughout life.

In 2014, Sigma Alpha Epsilon abolished pledging from our organization. This means you will become a full-member with all the rights and responsibilities that come along with being in SAE. You will have the ability to hold leadership roles and get involved from the beginning of your SAE membership.

Our chapter at Clemson was founded on April 11th, 1970. Sigma Alpha Epsilon is returning to campus this Fall after a five-year hiatus. We are looking for men who share in our ideals and are looking to be a part of building a new fraternity experience at Clemson University.

Sigma Alpha Epsilon nationally was founded on March 9, 1856 and the chapter was initially founded at Clemson University on April 11, 1970.

DUES & NEW MEMBER PERIOD

The cost to join Sigma Alpha Epsilon is roughly $600 plus local chapter operational costs in the new member semester. Every semester, after the new member semester, is roughly $600 plus local chapter operational costs for both the fall and spring semesters. Dues are subject to change based on the discretion of the members of the fraternity. Contact our treasurer Ronnie Badlani (Ronnie.Badlani@gmail.com) for any further questions about chapter dues.

The new member period length is 96 hours (4 days). This means that members who receive a bid will be initiated no more than 96 hours after they receive and accept their bid.

CREED

The True Gentleman is the man whose conduct proceeds from good will and an acute sense of propriety, and whose self-control is equal to all emergencies; who does not make the poor man conscious of his poverty, the obscure man of his obscurity, or any man of his inferiority or de-formity; who is himself humbled if necessity compels him to humble an-other; who does not flatter wealth, cringe before power, or boast of his own possessions or achievements; who speaks with frankness but always with sincerity and sympathy; whose deed follows his word; who thinks of the rights and feelings of others, rather than his own; and who appears well in any company, a man with whom honor is sacred and virtue safe.
