CLEMSON INTERFRATERNITY COUNCIL

PHI KAPPA TAU

HISTORY & VALUES

Phi Kappa Tau was established nationally as a fraternity on March 17, 1906 at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. The Epsilon Nu Chapter was established here at Clemson in 1995. The chapter was reassociated as an associate chapter on October 14th, 2022 and attained its re-charter on October 21, 2023.
The vision of Phi Kappa Tau is to be recognized as a leadership organization that binds men together and challenges them to improve their campuses and the world. The mission of Phi Kappa Tau is to champion a lifelong commitment to brotherhood, learning, ethical leadership and exemplary character. Here at Clemson, our chapter strives to be leaders on campus and to attain distinction in everything we do. We take pride in being men of respect and integrity. The Epsilon Nu chapter binds brothers together in order to foster an environment of personal, social, athletic, and academic growth. Our duty as Phi Kappa Tau men is to set the standard for what it means to be a fraternity man.
DUES & NEW MEMBER PERIOD
New member dues start at $1,200 and decrease by $200 every two semesters. By your senior year at Clemson, dues will be reduced to $600. The new member orientation program spans eight
weeks, followed by initiation thereafter.

SCHOLARSHIP
Phi Kappa Tau takes pride in academic excellence. In the Spring of 2025, the chapter GPA was 3.527. The required scholarship program ensures members’ academic success. Currently, there are brothers with majors in every one of the seven undergraduate colleges here at Clemson. A minimum 2.7 GPA is required for membership.
PHI KAPPA TAU'S
PHILANTHROPY & COMMUNITY SERVICE
In 1988, our esteemed alumnus and actor Paul Newman, Ohio ‘43, founded Hole in the Wall
Gang Camp on a 300-acre piece of land in Connecticut. Now an international organization
known as SeriousFun Children’s Network, this camp was designed as a place where children
with terminal or life-threatening illness could escape their medical conditions for a little while to
just be kids and, in Paul’s own words, “to raise a little hell.” Today, SeriousFun camps have
served over 1,000,000 children in 20 different countries - all free of charge. Phi Kappa Tau has
been formally partnered with SeriousFun for over 25 years. In that lifetime, we’ve raised $1.6
million dollars.
Just last semester alone, the Epsilon Nu Chapter raised $5,424 and completed 215 man hours for
SeriousFun camps. Our members are also involved in a variety of community service projects
throughout campus and the greater Clemson area.
